Le studiolo - Paris

2026

An office and a guest room for Monique and Christophe, Paris
Clearing a space of its past history to refocus it on what constitutes Monique and Christophe’s life plan today: an extra space for working, but also a space to welcome a friend.
To hold: the ‘T’ of holding onto a place, holding on in a world that is crumbling.
A structural ‘T’ that reassures us and defines the different spaces whilst keeping them open. It allows the kitchen to be integrated.
A symbolic ‘T’ is repeated throughout the space.
A sanctuary for peaceful reflection.
Preserving culture: the ‘T’ supports the bookshelves.
A structural ‘T’ that reassures us, a minimalist structure that keeps the space airy and light-filled, allowing light from a generous sash window—which opens to bring the street life directly inside in summer—to flow through the entire, rather elongated space.
Thought is the most elusive thing; it can adapt to many situations,
but it needs a supportive environment in which to develop, to move beyond the confines of the situation and project itself into the future.

Depending on your mood, you can sit at the table to write or on the chaise longue specially designed for reading. Because thoughts come and go.
An orange-coloured ‘T’ – the colour of energy and commitment.
A ‘T’ that holds portable lamps.
Today, more than ever, fostering the ability to think should be one of our priorities.
A space that becomes a pied-à-terre for a friend.
Everything is there and everything is in its place to welcome them and offer a gesture of hospitality.
Nurturing friendship.
