New diner, Porto Design Biennal
This renovation project for the Baixa solidarity restaurant is part of the Porto Design Biennial, at the invitation of curators Angela Rui and Eleonora Fedi.
It takes place in an existing solidarity restaurant, Beco Passos Manuel in downtown Porto, a gentle creation designed to re-enchant the space by coordinating several interventions in parallel.
Enhancing hospitality in the entrance area with a kiosk where visitors can sit down, choose clothes, recharge their mobile phones, write messages, etc. An alcove made up of vertical posts, sloping upwards and ending in a pulley at their extremity, which can be used to organise activities or free up space
Invite uniqueness by adding an artistic and human touch that develops in the alcoves equipped with mirrors, which now feature a bench topped with unique characters created from the tile pattern found on site. A wonderful world that gives a dreamlike dimension to reality, a unique world created from the identity of the place.
Repair the furniture, tables and chairs, and add a stool. The interior architecture is consistent, so care should be taken to revive the flat colours associated with wood and, at the same time, increase comfort and solidity.
New Diner was created in collaboration with the associations Casa and Acisjf.
